With over $26 million in government funding secured and plans to put shovels in the ground by spring 2027, TCC is seeking an experienced and committed Finance Director to join its Board of Directors for the 2026 to 2027 term.

The Finance Director will work closely with the Board, the Finance and Audit Committee, staff, and professional advisors to strengthen TCC's financial governance, accountability, internal controls, and long term financial sustainability as the project moves toward construction.

Key Responsibilities

The Finance Board Member will:

  • Serving as Treasurer of the Board and providing leadership on TCC's financial oversight, reporting, budgeting, and fiscal accountability.
  • Provide financial oversight and guidance to the Board of Directors.
  • Support the development, review, and monitoring of TCC's quarterly budgets and financial plans.

  • Support strong financial controls, policies, procedures, and accountability mechanisms.
  • Work closely with the Finance & Audit Committee on financial oversight, internal controls, risk management, and audit-related matters.
  • Support oversight of TCC's annual external audit and implementation of relevant audit recommendations.
  • Provide financial oversight related to the Tamil Community Centre capital project, including project budgets, cash-flow requirements, and major expenditures.
  • Support financial planning related to fundraising, donor pledges, pledge conversion, and the endowment fund.
  • Help strengthen procurement, vendor management, expense approval, and other financial-control processes.
  • Support the presentation of financial information to the Board and TCC Member Organizations, including at the Annual General Meeting.
  • Work collaboratively with TCC's accountants, auditors, consultants, committees, and other professional advisors.
  • Fulfil the fiduciary and governance responsibilities associated with serving as a Director of TCC.

Qualifications & Experience

TCC is particularly interested in candidates with:

  • A CPA designation or comparable senior professional accounting/financial experience.
  • Experience in accounting, financial management, audit, financial controls, or corporate finance.
  • Experience reviewing or preparing budgets and financial statements.
  • Strong understanding of financial governance, accountability, and internal controls.
  • Experience with non-profit or charitable organizations would be an asset.

  • Strong analytical, communication, collaboration, and decision-making skills.
  • A commitment to TCC's mission and willingness to actively contribute to the organization.

Commitment

This is a volunteer Board of Directors position. The successful candidate will be expected to actively participate in Board meetings, relevant committee work, organizational initiatives, and financial oversight.

The incoming Board will assume its responsibilities following TCC's Annual General Meeting in September 2026.
